If you think this is a portfolio website,
you are not wrong.
But not entirely right either.
It all started with a sudden realization that I’m a constant work in progress.
And so is everyone else. Working in the creative industry, I’ve learned it’s never fair to judge someone’s capability solely by the final result.
What shapes them. How they process their thoughts. Perceive the world, and filter what surrounds them, is just as important as the final result.

Who is Naomi Cassyane and what does she bring to the table?
I’m simply a struggling creative. And I’m okay with that. I know I’m creative for sure (I’ve got lots of certificates to prove it), but sometimes I feel like I’m not creative enough, and other times, I’m too creative for the brief. At the end of the day, I usually go with what my clients feel is best, because the main goal is to deliver their message and make it land. My job is to shape their vision, add my touch, and make sure it works in the real world.
What I bring to the table depends on what you need. I have two hats. One as a designer, and the other as an artist. I can wear them both at the same time if you want me to, but let’s be honest. Wearing two hats is ridiculous, isn’t it? Even as a Halloween costume I don’t think it would work. While I believe design and art can’t be separated, they are still two different things, with different approaches, and (at least for me) they use different parts of the brain. As a designer, I focus on problem-solving, using logic and my knowledge of design principles (hierarchy, balance, contrast, and composition, etc you name it) to create purposeful solutions. As an artist, I rely more on instinct and emotion to develop each project or commission.
There are moments when I have really good ideas but can’t put it into words, and others when the vision in my head refuses to translate into reality. Being socially awkward doesn’t help either. It’s always easier for me to introduce myself through writing, which is why this blog/portfolio exists.
